It is surrounded by the city Christchurch , Leeston and Lincoln; and finally by a lake called Ellesmere, showed at the east of the peninsula. The Banks Peninsula, was formed by earthquakes, because of how the Indian and the Pacific Ocean tectonic plates move, which also formed the barrier between the sea and the lake Ellesmere, allowing the lake to be separated from the ocean but also filled by salt water. Both volcanoes are dead, being just the eroded remnants of two great volcanoes. The lake Ellesmere is home to Hector's Dolphins, an endangered species, which was about to disappear entirely, if it weren't for the New Zealand scientists; it also holds the nest for a vary of sharks and whales. However, lake Ellesmere is also the second most polluted lake in New Zealand, in terms of nutrient content and algae growth, pollution may actually be seen from the ISS.

It is really impressing how the lights cover a lot of the surface of the Earth from the perspective of the photograph. Here they shine with a green glow. One of my dreams is to go watch the auroras at night. I wish to fulfill this dream whenever I have the opportunity. I know this will leave an impact on my life in a positive way.
