Caption by Space Station Academy student: This image shows a very barren portion of the Egyptian desert, a good deal West of the populated areas along the Nile river. It is impressive how clear we can see the rough terrain features all the way from space. The streaks across the ground are also interesting---perhaps indicative of sandstorms? It is also impressive just how vast the Egyptian desert is.
