Maynard Art Show: Some images defy description. We can name the location: Dervish Bay, Turkmenistan. We can describe the geography, where the vast Karakum Desert meets the Caspian Sea, the world’s largest inland body of water. We can note the economic impact of major petroleum reserves on this region, though thankfully this area is a natural preserve. Yet such analysis feels academic, when we should just let our visual imagination take charge, perhaps even seeing whirling dervishes in this abstract image.
