Maynard Art Show: Are these colors real? Well, that’s a judgment call. They are the colors registered on the camera’s sensor, with some modest increase in contrast by Photoshop. The reds may be a bit strong or the greens may be a tad blue. Yet so much depends on lighting, time of day and exposure settings. We would need to look out the Cupola window, with a careful eye to make sure the printer’s colors match one moment’s view. Perhaps this mystery mirrors the discoveries at nearby Olduvai Gorge, where the smallest fossils gave subtle hints about the lives of early hominids, over a million years ago.
