Moon over the Horizon
Maynard Art Show: Astronauts also love to photograph the Moon! Thousands of photos of the Moon from Earth orbit. The moon is certainly crisp and clear, without any atmosphere to make it shimmer. Perhaps astronauts dream of the great heroes of the Apollo era who actually went to the Moon. Yet at the core, there is something very compelling about the Moon. This image especially captures the magic of the Moon as Earth’s neighbor in space. The stark lifeless greys of the Moon contrast so remarkably with the blues of Earth’s atmosphere and the pure deep black of space.
