Snow Storm’s Edge
Maynard Art show: Two stories converge in this photograph. First, the circles. In the center of each, a drilled pipe reaches down to the underlying aquifer, and pumps water thru a horizontal pipe on wheels that pivots around the center point. This is one of the great inventions of agriculture. The second story relates to the dramatic split between the white and brown areas. Why? This is the edge of a snow storm that covered the lower left but not the upper right areas. For a sense of scale, notice the town just to right of the center – ironically named Center, Colorado.
